Please be advised that the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre will undergo a temporary closure of its aquatic facilities on Tuesday, 2 April and Wednesday, 3 April 2024.

Albany sportsmen and women were celebrated at the Wellington & Reeves Albany Sportsperson of the Year Awards last week, officially recognising the accomplishments of Albany’s local athletes.

Sports clubs, volunteers and professional athletes will be able to tap into a wealth of industry knowledge and experience when the City of Albany hosts the first Great Southern Sports Forum next month.

The Albany Sportsperson of the Year Awards is returning in 2024 to highlight and honour the outstanding accomplishments and dedication of our enthusiastic local sporting champions.

Kidsport vouchers have increased to one voucher of $300 per eligible child per financial year to help families reconnect through sport. You can now use Kidsport vouchers towards Swim Lessons. Kidsport vouchers can be used for registration/membership fees at any Kidsport approved club. All voucher codes have a 90-day expiry from date of approval, both vouchers may be used at the same club during the calendar year. KidSport encourages parents with eligible Western Australian children aged 5-18 years to participate in community sport and recreation activities by offering them financial assistance towards club fees (this does not cover uniform or equipment). KidSport is available online for parents to register their eligibility. Parents will be required to submit an online KidSport application form, also to provide a copy of their valid Health Care or Pensioner Concession card. KidSport no longer has referral agents, applicants without a valid concession card need to meet one of the new Financial Expectations. The City of Albany is undertaking a feasibility study into Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre (ALAC) and is seeking community feedback from users, spectators, parents, and community groups from across the region.

Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre (ALAC) has won the 2023 Platinum Waterwise Aquatic Centre Award at the 2023 Waterwise Recognition Event held in Perth last week.

An update in relation to a potential Covid case at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

Rainwater runoff from the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre (ALAC) roof will be used for irrigation and toilet systems thanks to a grant from Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.

Pool user accessibility has been elevated to a new level at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre with the installation of a new pool hoist to enable users easy access to the twenty-five metre lap pool.
