Go Youth Membership at the Albany Leisure & Aquatic Centre

The Go Youth Membership at ALAC is designed specifically for young people aged 11 to 17 years, supporting both physical and mental wellbeing through fitness, routine, connection and a sense of belonging. With supervised gym access, court use, and pool access, Go Youth provides a safe, supportive, and motivating environment for young people to move and grow.

What Is a Go Youth Membership? 

Go Youth is a youth-focused fitness membership that provides:

  • Supervised gym sessions
  • Access to the pool
  • Access to the courts
  • Participation in Go Youth group fitness classes
  • Guidance, support and coaching from trained ALAC staff

 

Our goal is to create a program that supports health, confidence, social connection and lifelong positive habits.

How Much Does the Go Youth Membership Cost?

 You can choose the payment option that works best:

  • 3-month upfront membership: $120
  • Perpetual monthly direct debit: $40 per month
    (A once-off $25 sign-up fee applies if you have never held a direct debit membership with ALAC before.)

   


Member Categories

Go Youth is structured into three age groups to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate progression.

11 - 12 Years| Blue

Gym and Group Fitness Access:

  • Supervised gym access: Monday to Friday, 3:15pm – 5:00pm
  • Eligible for Go Youth group fitness classes

Requirements:

  • Pre-exercise screening questionnaire and gym induction completed.
  • Membership form signed by a parent or guardian
  • Cardio equipment use only (no weight-based equipment)

13 - 15 Years | Red

Gym and Group Fitness Access:

  • Supervised gym access: Monday to Friday, 3:15pm – 5:00pm
  • Eligible for all Go Youth group fitness classes

Requirements & Equipment Access:

  • Pre-exercise screening questionnaire and gym induction completed
  • Membership form signed by a parent or guardian
  • Access to cardio equipment
  • Access to pin-loaded weight machines

16 - 17 Years| Black

Gym and Group Fitness Access:

  • Supervised gym access: Monday to Friday, 3:15pm – 5:00pm
  • Eligible for all Go Youth group fitness classes

Requirements & Equipment Access:

  • Pre-exercise screening questionnaire and gym induction completed
  • Membership form signed by a parent or guardian
  • Access to cardio equipment
  • Access to pin-loaded weights
  • Introduction to selected free-weight equipment, only:
    • After being assessed as capable by ALAC gym staff
    • With permission from staff
    • As part of a structured, supervised program

What Centre Access Is Included?

  • Supervised gym sessions:
    Monday to Friday, 3:15pm – 5:00pm
  • Pool and court access:
    Available during all standard ALAC opening hours

Do Go Youth Members Receive Coaching and Gym Programs?

Yes. During supervised gym sessions, Go Youth members have:

  • A fully supervised environment every session
  • Trainers providing fitness coaching, safe technique correction and support
  • The option to receive a tailored gym program designed specifically for their age, goals and ability

Our trainers ensure every workout is safe, structured and confidence-building.

How Do I Get Started?

Signing up is easy:

  1. Join in person or online
  2. Membership must be co-signed by a parent or guardian (18+)
  3. Complete a pre-exercise screening questionnaire
  4. Attend a gym induction
    • Inductions run Monday to Friday at 3:45pm
    • No booking required

Members must complete an induction before attending supervised gym sessions.

Can I Participate in Go Youth Without a Membership?

No. Casual entry is not available for Go Youth, as all participants must complete an induction and be part of the program.

What Are the Behaviour and Safety Requirements?

To keep Go Youth safe and enjoyable for everyone:

  • A towel must be brought to every session
  • Membership band must be worn while working out
  • Members must follow all instructions from Go Youth trainers and ALAC staff
  • Behaviour must be respectful and appropriate at all times
  • The gym is an adult training space and must be treated as such
  • Equipment and spaces must be used safely and responsibly
