About the Sporting Walk of Fame

The Albany Sporting Walk of Fame celebrates the outstanding achievements of athletes who have made a significant contribution to sport, both locally and on the national and international stage.

On Thursday 15 October 2026, the City of Albany proudly celebrated the induction of its first four sporting legends: Tricia Heberle, Wayne Smith, Diane Martin and Jodie Cooper.

Located at Centennial Park, the Sporting Walk of Fame provides a lasting tribute to Albany's sporting history, recognising the dedication, achievements and legacy of those who have helped put Albany on the sporting map.

The Walk of Fame will continue to grow, with future inductions celebrating more of our region's remarkable sporting talent.

Nominations are now open for the next round of inductees, where up to 2 more people may be recognised. The closing date for the next round of nominees is January 3rd 2027.

Before submitting your nomination, please ensure the individual has achieved a high level in their sport, such as competing at state, national, or international level. Nominees must also be a 'homegrown' talent and participated in sport here in Albany before going on to achieve at an elite level.
